What are the hours of operation?

We operate on a full year schedule, and are open from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. For every minute after 6:05 pm (SLC lobby clock) that you are late picking up your child/children, you will be charged $2.00.

We kindly ask that children are present by 10:00 am each day. If you have an appointment and know you will be bringing your child in after 10:00 am, we ask that you please call and notify the front office. If possible, we ask that you DO NOT pick up your child until after 2:00 pm so that nap time is not disturbed.

Is the center closed for holidays?

Yes, SLC observes the following 9 holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on a weekend, Saturday holidays will be observed on Friday and Sunday holidays will be observed on Monday. There is NO discount for holiday weeks. Full tuition is charged in order for our staff to be paid for the holiday.

What is your inclement weather policy?

The decision to close the center OR open on a delayed schedule will be made by 6:00 am, with the announcement made on WYFF 4 (via live TV and online streaming) and the Remind app. If the center is open as normal, but must close early due to inclement weather, we will notify via the Remind app. There are NO discounts for inclement weather days. Full tuition is charged in order for our staff to be paid.

What items are needed for my child/children?

  • Infants: Each child will need a daily supply of pre-made bottles labeled with the child’s name and date. Some parents also choose to bring in food containers once your child begins solid foods (this is not required). All families will need to maintain a supply of diapers and wipes, labeled with your child’s name. Teachers will notify parents via the daily grams when supplies are getting low. Additionally, each child will need to have several changes of clothes (weather appropriate).

  • Toddlers - K2: All families will need to maintain a supply of diapers/pull-ups and wipes, labeled with your child’s name. Teachers will notify parents via the daily grams when supplies are low. Each child will also need to have several changes of clothes (weather appropriate). Additionally, each child will need one clean (crib size) sheet to cover their mat and one clean blanket. These bedding articles must be taken home each Friday, laundered, and returned each Monday.

  • K3 - K5: Each child will need a change of clothes (weather appropriate), one clean (crib size) sheet to cover their mat, and one clean blanket. These bedding articles must be taken home each Friday, laundered, and returned each Monday.

  • Toy policy: unless specified on the class calendars, we ask that NO toys be brought to SLC. We are NOT responsible for lost or broken toys or personal items.

Can I bring food from home for my child/children?

NO food should be brought from home unless for medical reasons or allergies. Please have your child eat/finish breakfast before entering the center. Children will receive a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack (weekly menus are posted on the bulletin boards and website).

With prior notification to the teacher, birthday celebrations are allowed and will be held during afternoon snack. Families are permitted to bring in cupcakes, cake, etc.; however, please remember that SLC is a peanut/nut free school.

What is your illness and medication policy?

You will receive notification and be required to pick up your child if he/she has a fever or 100 degrees or more, has vomited twice, or has diarrhea two times. Children must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT MEDICATION before returning to SLC.

If your child has a contagious disease, you MUST notify SLC. Please do NOT bring your child to the center with a contagious disease. If your child has been sent home because of an illness, we MUST have a doctor’s note indicating that they are cleared to return.

In order for SLC to dose medicine, ALL medicine prescriptions or OTC medications (including any diaper rash cream/ointment) must have an SLC medicine permission form completed. You must provide the medication - NO sharing or borrowing will be allowed. Additionally, all medication permission must be in written form - verbal permission is NOT acceptable. Medication (Rx or OTC) must be in the original container/bottle, with the child’s name printed on it. Medication, as well as the dosage, must be for the correct age of the child. If the dosage differs, your doctor must fill out (or type) a dosage permission form.

SLC will NOT dispense any form of Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, etc. for continual fever. If your child has a fever, they are NOT to be brought to the center. If the fever is directly associated with an ear infection or immunizations, please provide a doctor’s note.

How does SLC/teachers communicate with families?

SLC uses the Remind app to keep families informed of important happenings at the center. This is our primary means of communication; however, we also post information on our Facebook page and website. Additionally, you can find our event calendars on the bulletin boards in the main hallway of the center and beside classroom doors.

Daily reports are given on every child from the Infants to Toddler classes (upon parent request, reports may be given in our K2 classes). These reports give parents an overview of your child’s day with diaper changes listed, what food was eaten and how well they ate, nap times, and general mood throughout the day. Additionally, daily reports are a way of communicating to parents if supplies (such as diapers or wipes) are running low and need to be sent into the classroom.

Will family/friends be allowed to pick-up my child/children from SLC in the event that I cannot?

The safety and security of your children and the staff is our main priority. SLC policy requires that only those people listed on your child’s enrollment form may pick up your child. If someone else will be picking up your child, you must come to the SLC office and fill out a Child Pick Up form. SLC policy requires that the specified person be prepared to show their driver’s license as ID. If any unauthorized person comes to SLC to pick up your child, we will not release the child to them without your permission AND a photo ID. If needed, we will phone you to confirm the arrangement.
